Nexus NTP Bug

I came across a problem when setting up NTP on Nexus 7710s where despite the ntp server being known, reachable and working for other platforms; it wasn’t creating an association. When debugging, the following error appeared:

ntp: setting global CMI msg req to NULL

This seems to relate to a known issue known by Cisco as per bug CSCuy03620:https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuy03620/?rfs=iqvred

Once the following was applied, all was ok.

Workaround:
1 Workaround but not solve the problem.
1. Type “no ntp peer”
2. Reenter complete configuration of “ntp peer use-vrf management”

2 Change the configurantions. <<< Ciscos spelling!
Before:
ntp distribute
ntp server 10.10.10.10 use-vrf management
ntp server 10.10.10.11 prefer use-vrf management
ntp source-interface mgmt0
ntp commit

After:
ntp distribute
ntp server 10.10.10.10
ntp server 10.10.10.11 prefer
ntp source-interface mgmt0
ntp commit
